It is the first of many florida phentermines in her home. Three florida phentermine stained glass windows line the stairs. The Porters moved to the home in May after living most of their married life in a ranch style home. “We were looking for a home that fit our furniture and found it here,” she said. Examples of her doll collection show up in her decorating, but it is the upstairs doll room, where they are on full display. “I’ve just always loved dolls,” she said while pointing to a few favorites. “Sometimes I think I was born in the wrong era because I love that Victorian period.” The home’s burgundy color scheme is complemented with pink and gold throughout her decorating, but she also includes traditional red and green touches as well. Her husband’s nutcracker collection, and an florida phentermine organ and lamp in the living room are other highlights of this home. Christmas is all about family and celebrating the birth of Jesus for the Porters. “We have four sons and they usually all try to make it home for Christmas,” she said. “I like to keep the true meaning of Christmas.” Ray and Betty Owens, 1722 I St. Built in 1880 by a Frenchman, this two story brick home was recently a dental office and physician’s office before becoming a single family home again. The home is currently undergoing additional renovations. Homeowner Betty Owens said the project means she will be facing a decorating deadline to get her house ready for the tour, but she didn’t want to wait until next year to be on the tour. “I had breast cancer in 1995 and Wanda really helped me,” she said. “I’ve wanted to do something for Wanda for a long time.” Owens has done extensive research on the house and its original owners and will share some of that on the tour. “In 1875, he owned a saloon/bottling company on the square, he was one of the richest men in Bedford. His daughter married Archibald Carter, one of the original owners of Day & Carter,” she said. The style of the Gaussin house is French Second Empire. “There are very few authentic examples of this pre Victorian house,” she said. Owens hopes to have the entire house open for the tour. She decorates mostly in pink, green and gold and is excited about being on the tour for the first time. “I’m having a blast getting this house back to its original design,” she said. Soni Evans, 2511 Washington Ave. Soni Evans is back home again. “We moved here when I was 13 and I moved back in May,” she said. “It’s been in the family 54 years. “ Built around 1915, the one story home is decorated in Victorian hues of pink, green and cream. Evans describes her home as traditional with Victorian touches. A retired music teacher, who still teaches private piano lessons, Evans plays up her musical background in her decorating. She has a music themed tree as well as a Santa tree and Santa collection. A child’s room features her doll collection. Also on display will be Evans’ accordian. Some may wonder its significance, but Evans said it wouldn’t be Christmas without it. “I got that for Christmas when I was 14. It was a special Christmas present that year. We didn’t have much money, Mom paid for my music out of the money she made ironing clothes,” she said. Michael and Laura Ragone, 310 Sunset Lane in Steeplechase The view from the Ragones’ front porch sold them on their house in Steeplechase. It offers a breathtaking view of Bedford. After living away for 20 years, Laura is glad to be back home in Bedford. Laura Ragone’s idea of how best to celebrate the season is to relax and enjoy it. So she does her decorating and shopping early so when December arrives she feels no pressure. “I started decorating Nov. 1. It’s my kids’ favorite holiday and they like all the decorations, so that’s another reason,” she said. Laura said the kitchen is her favorite room in the house. It has a corner fireplace, topped with a Christmas village, that warms the room. Lots of greenery, berries and deep reds complement her home’s burgundy color scheme. Another favorite of Laura’s is the Christmas tree in the living room. “I call it the Tahoe tree because that’s what the trees look like at Lake Tahoe,” she said. Indeed, the tree is covered in snow and looks like it should be standing outside a ski lodge. Laura said her family has been affected by cancer, and she wanted to support LCCPS by being on the tour. Elizabeth Grant, 875 Church Camp Road Elizabeth Grant had always wanted to restore an old home. In 2004, she got her wish. Grant spent nearly six months bringing back to life a crumbling, circa 1913 farmhouse. With amazing attention to historic details, Grant kept the home’s original woodwork, heart pine floors and plaster walls. The home’s huge wraparound porch with six pillars makes a stunning statement for a farmhouse. She added upstairs dormers, but mostly the home is structurally unchanged. Inside, Grant made a few modern improvements, such as adding a half bath downstairs, but even that looks like it’s always been there. “It has exceeded my expectations,” she said of the home. “As much as possible, everything in here is period appropriate.” This is the second time for Grant’s home to be on the tour. “We’re welcoming everyone here in memory of my mother Lorena Spinks, who died of renal cell cancer,” she said. In keeping with the home’s history, her decorating taste is simple, not fussy, but very much in the holiday spirit. Grant is a fan of several dollmakers and artists and their work is featured in her decorating. She has also made a lot of decorations and ornaments and they are on display a well. With the project completed, Grant plans to open it as a bed and breakfast. The Candlelight Inn will open in fall 2008. Chris and Shannon Keith, East 16th Street The Keiths have put their holiday touches on a turn of the century jewel that was renovated in 2006. The 1901 house is decorated inside and out. The home has three porches, four bedrooms including a master suite, 2 1/2 baths, pocket doors, original oak mantle fireplace, beautiful oak hardwood floors and trim that has been refinished on the main floor. ... florida phentermine
