Compliance, although a less important element in the decision making process, is another reason why organisations are taking their time to jump on the UC bandwagon. General Manager of converged communications solutions for Datacraft, Nagi Kashinadhuni told SDA Asia that compliance being less of a concern indicates that converged communications are not yet part of mainstream regulations. However, in his opinion, this will become an increasingly vital issue for senior management in the future. The most widely deployed UC applications for both enterprises and small and medium businesses are Email and IP Telephony with mobility being the main driver behind both adoption. The survey also revealed that Email has overtaken telephony as the primary communication tool in the workplace with end users more than often opting to communicate using electronic media rather than voice services such as telephony.
