Wingecarribee Shire Libraries joined in the statewide Day of Action yesterday to protest the ongoing reduction in State Government funding for public phentermine saturday delivery. At Bowral Public Library some computers were turned off, lighting was dimmed and magazines and newspapers were taken off the shelves, as well as some of the new books, to demonstrate how critical State funding is. State Government funding for public phentermine saturday delivery has been reduced during the past 25 years. In 1980, the State Government contributed 23.6 per cent of the total operating costs of public phentermine saturday delivery. By 2004 2005, this contribution was down to 7.8 per cent and in 2006 2007 it had decreased even further to 4.16 per cent. In comparison, local government contributions have increased by 10 times from $27.5m to $265m. Libraries across the State were yesterday encouraged to undertake symbolic gestures of protest using the slogan “Imagine NSW without Public Libraries.” Information Services Librarian from Bowral Public Library, Roxanne Seaward said, “People wanted to know why and this has given us the opportunity to explain to them why we have been participating in the day of action, what we are hoping to demonstrate by limiting the resources in the library.” “A lot of people have been interested to find that out and they have been very supportive,” she said. More than 1200 signatures have been collected thus far by the local phentermine saturday delivery opposing the cuts. Bowral local Brian McCauley who uses the library everyday was supporting the day of action, and said that it would be sad to see a reduction in the services.
